Designed by Kazuhide Takahama in 1968 for Dino Gavina, the Tulu chair combines a chrome-plated metal frame with padded upholstered seat and back. The frame is formed from slender continuous elements that create the rectangular back surround and sled-style base, with the upholstered panels suspended within the structure. The chairs belong to Takahama's Italian work for Gavina and are an early example of his experimental approach to tubular metal construction. The chrome frame carries an original engraved origin and patent number marking, consistent with documented Tulu examples.
Good vintage condition with cosmetic wear consistent with age and use. The chrome frames have surface scratches and localized wear to the plating. The black leather upholstery has surface wear, small abrasions and localized fraying, including wear around some points where the upholstery meets the frame.
