Selene Chair by Vico Magistretti for Artemide

Designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, Selene was developed in the late 1960s and entered production around 1970 as an early stackable chair produced using compression-moulding technology. The chair is formed as a single moulded shell in fibreglass-reinforced polyester, with the curved backrest, seat and four legs integrated into one continuous structure. The characteristic S-shaped profile of the legs provides rigidity while allowing the chairs to stack. The chairs bear the Artemide production label as well as the early "patent pending" marking associated with early production examples.
Good vintage condition with cosmetic wear consistent with age and use. The brown surfaces have scratches, scuffs and fine marks throughout, with more pronounced abrasions and localized losses to some edges and corners. There are also small areas of surface loss around parts of the lower frame and leg edges. The chairs are structurally stable and retain their original stackable construction.
