René Herbst 'Sandows' Armchairs
1 available
Pair of vintage 'Sandows' armchairs designed by René Herbst in 1928, production attributed to Formes Nouvelles. The model is a recognized example of early French modernist design, reflecting Bauhaus principles through its exposed tubular steel structure and tension-based seating system.
Chromed tubular steel frames form a continuous, gently reclined profile with integrated armrests and a high back. Black elastic cords are tensioned horizontally across the seat, backrest, and arms, creating a flexible support surface while maintaining a precise linear rhythm and structural clarity.
