'Quinta' Chairs by Mario Botta for Alias

Designed by Mario Botta and produced by Alias in Italy in 1985, the Quinta chair is regarded as one of the defining designs of the Italian Postmodern movement. This pair of Quinta chairs is constructed from black-coated steel tubing and perforated folded sheet steel. Both chairs retain their original Alias labels.
The frame is formed from round tubular steel with two continuous curved front members that extend into the armrests. The seat and backrest are made from folded perforated steel panels with elongated rectangular perforations. The backrest is suspended from a horizontal tube and curves forward toward the seat, while the folded seat panel is supported within the tubular frame.
In very good condition. The black finish shows scattered scratches, rub marks and small areas of finish wear consistent with age and use, primarily along the edges of the perforated steel panels and tubular frame. Minor oxidation is visible in isolated areas, including around a small number of welded joints. Both chairs have their original Alias labels.
