Designed by Centro Progetti Tecno in 1972 and produced by Tecno in Italy, the Modus SM 203 is a stackable chair with a glossy red moulded polyamide shell and black upholstered seat and backrest. The shell is supported by a four-leg aluminium structure incorporating the characteristic Modus connection system, allowing the chairs to be stacked and joined together. The combination of moulded plastic, exposed metal and integrated upholstery reflects Tecno's industrial approach to seating design in the 1970s.
Good vintage condition with visible signs of age and use. The glossy red shells have fine scratches, surface marks and localized abrasions, with some more pronounced scratches visible along the edges and frame junctions. The black fabric upholstery shows light surface wear and marks, while the aluminium frames have scratches, oxidation and areas of surface discoloration. The chairs remain structurally intact, and the original Tecno and Patent Pending markings are present.
