Mid-Century Modern Chairs by Hans Fiedler & Hans Heyder
1 available
Chairs designed by Hans Fiedler and Hans Heyder and produced in the former East Germany (DDR) during the 1970s. Each chair has a chrome-plated tubular steel frame with its original upholstered seat and back. The design stacks for storage when not in use. The same models were used in public buildings in the GDR (East Germany), including the Palace of the Republic.
The chairs are structurally sound overall, with stable frames; one front leg is slightly bent but does not affect stability. The original upholstery remains in good condition, showing light wear, a few small marks, occasional pulled threads and minor fraying along the lower edges. The chrome-plated tubular frames display scattered scratches, localized losses to the chrome finish and small areas of surface corrosion, most noticeably near one foot and around a few welded joints, all consistent with age and use.
