Pair of MG5 armchairs designed by Centro Studi for Matteo Grassi in 1979 and produced in Italy. The design combines a tubular chromed steel frame with suspended dark brown leather panels forming the seat and backrest. The polished tubular frame creates a continuous geometric outline, while stitched leather armrests, seat and backrest are tensioned within the structure.
The chairs are structurally sound with no visible damage to the steel frame or leather suspension. The leather shows an even patina with surface creasing, light scratches and areas of wear consistent with age and use, including a small separation at the lower corner of one backrest. The chromed steel frame has light surface scratches, with a more pronounced scratch to one armrest, as shown in the photographs.
