Designed by Peppe de Giuli for Candolfi in the 1970s, the Mercurio table lamp combines geometric forms with indirect illumination. The lamp consists of a white lacquered metal base with two conical supports, a suspended chrome-plated spherical reflector, and a red arched rod connecting the two ends. Two exposed bulbs housed within the cones direct light onto the polished sphere, which reflects and diffuses the illumination while concealing the light source. It retains its original inline switch and manufacturer's label.
The lamp is in good vintage condition and has been tested in working order. The white painted surfaces show scattered scratches, small chips, light soiling and several areas of discoloration consistent with age and use. The chrome-plated sphere remains bright with light surface wear visible on close inspection. The inline switch and power cord show age-related yellowing, and the manufacturer's label is partially worn.
