Mart Stam Style Cantilever Chairs
1 available
These cantilever chairs combine a polished tubular steel frame with cognac-brown leather seat and back panels. The leather backrests are joined with black cord lacing, while the undersides of the seats incorporate exposed metal tension elements that support the suspended upholstery. Their restrained tubular construction and laced leather detailing recall Mart Stam's early Bauhaus cantilever seating, particularly the laced-leather version documented as Art. 144 in the Mvsevm catalogue. The exact manufacturer and production date have not been established.
Very good vintage condition, with expected signs of age and use. Saddle leather shows signs of wear consistent wigh age and use, including minor surface scratches, creasing and a small split on the edge of a backrest. Some natural sagging from age and use is present to the leather which remains firm overall. The chrome-plated frames retain a polished appearance, with scattered light scratches and localized wear. Structurally sound and stable.Â
