'Libellula' Armchairs by Giovanni Carini for Planula
10 available
Designed by Giovanni Carini for Italian manufacturer Planula during the 1970s, the Libellula armchair combines clean geometric chrome tubing with suspended saddle leather seat and back panels. The design reflects a restrained late Bauhaus influence, while the exposed spring tensioning and open tubular frame give the chair its characteristic light appearance.
Good vintage condition. The frames are structurally sound. The saddle leather shows an even patina with natural creasing, light surface scratches and minor wear to the edges consistent with age and use. The chrome-plated frames remain bright overall, with light surface scratches, isolated areas of oxidation and small losses to the chrome finish on several chairs. The original spring-supported leather construction remains intact.
