Set of six original 'Kazuki' chairs designed by Kazuhide Takahama for Gavina in 1968.
An iconic and collectible model within Takahama's body of work, often described as a "reduced throne" due to its strict geometry and vertical emphasis. The design reflects Takahama's approach of combining Japanese minimalism with Italian production. The use of lacquered surfaces directly references traditional Japanese lacquer work, translated into an industrial context by Gavina, one of the first manufacturers to apply this finish in modern furniture production.
Architectural design built from flat lacquered side panels forming the structure, with a tall, narrow upholstered back and seat.
Fully upholstered version, reupholstered in a new rust velvet upholstery consistent with the original upholstery.
Original label present on all chairs.
Very good vintage condition with expected signs of age, as noted in the photos.
