Joe Colombo ‘Universale’ Chairs for Kartell
1 available
Pair of 'Universale' or 'Model 4867' chairs designed by Joe Colombo for Kartell, originally introduced in 1965 and produced in Italy in later editions including the 1980s. The Universale chair became recognized as one of the first injection-molded plastic chairs produced using ABS, reflecting Colombo's exploration of industrial plastic furniture design during the Space Age period.
Each chair is molded in white plastic with a continuous seat and back shell supported by integrated cylindrical legs. The backrest features a distinctive central cut-out and a gently curved form, while the modular construction allows the legs to attach separately to the main body.
Overall very good vintage condition with expected signs of age.
Patina and surface scratching present on the plastic, in accordance with expected use. No cracks or significant damages.
