Italian Lounge Chair with Tubular Steel Frame

Italian lounge chair produced in the late 1970s. The chair combines large upholstered volumes with a continuous chromed tubular frame that wraps around the base, backrest and armrests before disappearing beneath the upholstery. The generous seat is upholstered in brown ribbed velvet with two upholstered buttons to the backrest and stands on concealed castors, giving the substantial form a visually light appearance.
Good vintage condition. The chair is structurally sound and stable. The ribbed velvet upholstery shows even wear consistent with age, including localized fading, light staining and scattered marks, together with a small repaired area near the base. The chromed tubular frame displays light surface scratches, minor oxidation and a small bend beneath one armrest visible in the photographs.
