Pair of Hilversum chairs designed by Carlo Bartoli for Rossi di Albizzate, Italy, in the 1980s. This pair originates from Villa Rossi di Albizzate, the residence built for the Rossi family alongside the company's factory in Albizzate. The Hilversum chair combines a chrome-plated steel frame with black rear stretchers, lacquered wood seat and back panels and integrated armrests. The tall backrests and restrained geometric construction reflect the architectural character of the design. Both chairs retain the manufacturer's labels.
Good vintage condition. Both chairs are structurally sound and stable. The enamelled and lacquered surfaces show light surface scratches, scattered edge wear and a few small chips consistent with age and use. The chrome-plated frames display light surface scratches and minor wear. Manufacturer's labels present.
