Designed by Gae Aulenti in 1976 as part of the Orsay seating collection and produced by Knoll International, this two-seat sofa combines a black lacquered extruded steel frame with black leather cushions for the seat, back and armrests. The construction emphasises the continuous tubular profile of the frame, with the cushions suspended within the structure rather than enclosing it. The sofa retains the original Knoll label and presents one of Aulenti's best-known furniture designs from the 1970s.

The sofa is structurally sound and stable. The leather upholstery shows light wear consistent with age and use, including minor scuffs and superficial marks to the seat and back cushions, with no visible tears or seam failures. The black lacquered steel frame exhibits scratches, paint loss and chips concentrated along the armrests, front rail and lower legs, exposing the metal in places. Overall, the wear is cosmetic and the sofa remains fully functional with a well-preserved original appearance.
