Gae Aulenti Locus Solus Coffee Table
1 available
Designed by Gae Aulenti in 1964 for Poltronova, the Locus Solus coffee table combines a dark smoked-glass top with a continuous chromed tubular steel frame. The rounded-square perimeter is integrated into the frame, which curves beneath the top to form an intersecting arrangement of sculptural supports terminating in small spherical feet. The contrast between the reflective chrome and tinted glass is characteristic of Aulenti's experimental approach to materials and structure in the 1960s.
Good vintage condition, with expected signs of age and use. The smoked-glass top shows minor surface marks and light scratches. The chrome-plated frame has scattered scratches, abrasions and localized areas of pitting and finish wear, particularly along the curved sections and perimeter, while retaining an overall shine. Structurally stable.
Professionally cleaned.
