Early ‘Model 66’ Chairs by Alvar Aalto
6 available
Original Model 66 dining chairs designed by Alvar Aalto for Artek, Finland, in 1935.
Crafted from solid birch and molded birch plywood, the chair exemplifies Aalto's pioneering bentwood technique - a hallmark of Finnish modernism that combines structural strength with organic softness.
The rounded seat, gently curved legs, and open-back design give the chair a lightweight yet sculptural presence. The Model 66 remains one of Aalto's most enduring designs, still produced by Artek today, and reflects his philosophy of "human modernism" - furniture made to harmonize with natural materials and everyday life.
Early production, 1940-1950.
Condition consistent with age and use. Each chair has minor surface wear, small scratches, and patina visible in the finish, as shown in photos. Structurally sound and sturdy.
