Cocoon pendant lamp dating from the 1960s, in the style of the cocoon lighting developed by Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni during the period. The spherical shade is formed from a sprayed resin membrane over an internal structure, with vertical ribs shaping the translucent surface and a circular opening at the base. Suspended from a simple cord, the lamp produces a warm, diffused light when illuminated.
Good vintage condition with age-related wear. The cocoon membrane has developed an overall warm yellow-brown patina consistent with age, with surface scratches, fine marks and localized darker areas. There are a few small localized punctures to the membrane, with light fraying around the lower opening. The lamp is functioning.
Professionally cleaned.
Holds one E27 bulb. Bulb not included.
