One of three Bauhaus cantilever armchairs in cognac leather, attributed to the Mart Stam design and produced in Germany during the 1980s. The model follows the principles established in the late 1920s, employing a continuous tubular steel frame to achieve the cantilevered seating concept associated with early Bauhaus functionalism.
Polished tubular steel structure with a sled base supports a suspended leather seat and backrest in thick cognac hide. The armrests are wrapped in matching leather, and the seat is tensioned between the side frames with visible fasteners and a supporting crossbar beneath, allowing the characteristic slight flex of the cantilever form.
Very good vintage condition with expected signs of age and a beautiful patina. Leather in good condition with no cracks or moisture. Most importantly, the seating leather shows no cracking underneath the seat, ensuring longevity for decades to come.
