Brutalist Wooden Armchairs
1 available
These architectural armchairs are constructed from broad, flat wooden panels that form the seat, backrest and full-height side supports. The warm-toned wood surfaces are outlined by black edge banding, emphasizing the thickness and geometry of the individual panels. Their planar construction and restrained, architectural forms recall the furniture experiments of Donald Judd and Gerrit Rietveld, particularly their use of simple wooden planes to define functional volumes. The combination of solid proportions, open-sided construction and contrasting edges gives the chairs a distinctly Brutalist character.
Good vintage condition, with visible signs of age and use. The wood surfaces show scratches, scuffs and localized finish wear, particularly around the edges and lower sections. Both armchairs show signs of surface repairs by the previous owners, noted in the photos. The black edge banding has been replaced. The armchairs are structurally stable and sound.
