Pair of sculptural wooden figures constructed from thick timber and mounted on stepped rectangular bases. The simplified human forms are defined by geometric profiles, cut-out eye openings and contrasting head shapes, with the pointed head of one figure and rounded head of the other evoking the forms of chess pieces. The warm honey-brown wood has pronounced grain, knots and visible marks throughout.
Good vintage condition with visible cosmetic wear consistent with age and use. The wooden surfaces have scratches, dents, abrasions and areas of finish wear, with more pronounced edge wear and small losses to the figures and stepped bases. Both figures are structurally stable.
