Designed by Pierre Paulin for Artifort in 1965, the Little Tulip F163 is formed from a sculptural upholstered shell with a separate rounded backrest and raised, continuous armrests. The chairs are upholstered in warm cream leather and mounted on central chrome-plated stems with circular metal disc bases. The set retains the characteristic open space between the backrest and seat and the compact proportions of the Little Tulip design.
The chairs are structurally stable, with no visible cracks, breaks or repairs to the shells or bases. The leather shows age-appropriate wear and patina, including fine crazing, creasing, light discoloration and small marks, with more pronounced wear to the armrests and edges. The metal disc bases show surface scratches and general signs of use consistent with age.
