Designed by Michele De Lucchi and Giancarlo Fassina for Artemide and introduced in 1987, the Tolomeo has become one of the best-known examples of contemporary Italian lighting design. Produced in the early 2000s, these lamps feature the original articulated aluminium arm with exposed steel tension cables, an adjustable aluminium reflector and a ribbed circular weighted base. The balanced-arm mechanism allows the lamp to be positioned with a wide range of movement while maintaining its set position, making it suitable as a task or reading lamp. The lamps retain the original Artemide labels.
