Iconic 'Gaudi' chair designed by Vico Magistretti and produced by Artemide, Italy. Named after Antonio Gaudi.
Single piece construction chair that comes from a pressure mold of polyester resin reinforced with fiberglas to withstand heat and scratching. The form is indicative of Magistretti's emphasis on material. New technologies and production methods allowed him to experiment with more expressive and sculptural geometries.
Please note this is not one of the newly produced editions, but one of the earlier productions of the 1970s, easily recognizable by the 'patent pending' signation underneath the chair.
For such an early model, the chairs are extremely well preserved with smaller expected signs of age, mostly surface scratches.
A small crack is present on the backrest corner of one chair (shown in photos).
It is one of the most iconic and beautiful pieces, a design and product design icon fully utilizing and reinventing the design possibilities of working and producing furniture with moulded plastic.
